Gravity, Grace & Yoann Bourgeois
Few dances have moved me the way that "Fugue/Trampoline" does.
Choreographed and performed by the brilliant Yoann Bourgeois, the dance is a mesmerizing, visceral work. It is impossible not to "feel" the falling, the flying, and the suspension that this incredible performer embodies.
I find it to be a deeply spiritual work as well. It serves as a haunting metaphor for life itself; the perpetual climbing; the falling and rebounding; the uncertainty juxtaposed against moments of surefooted balance.
Here is a scripture that this dance brings to my mind . . .
When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong,
Because the Lord is the One who holds his hand.
Psalm 37:24
(NASB)
If you are like me, you will enjoy seeing this dance from different angles, so I have included different performances below.
Enjoy!
